Episode 39: Two Words and an Accent

Episode 30: Trump’s America

Kat and Mesha process and grieve the results of the election. This doesn’t stop them from being petty and talking about how Trump’s face is as offensive to look at as his policies and views are to hear. They discuss ways to fight oppression and urge people to not slut shame Melania Trump because her husband is a fuckboy. Women are not responsible for the actions of their husbands. They also reflect on their love for the Obamas and train for the First Annual Hunger Games.

Episode 29: Your Terms on Your Terms

The election that no one wanted has finally arrived. As the world’s most famous democracy, why is the system still so imperfect? Kat and Mesha discuss the origin of the electoral college. During the main segment, they try to unpack internalized oppression and taking on the language of the colonizer. Lastly, they bring back Historical Fact of the Day.

Episode 27: College and the American Dream

Water is Life. In honor of Indigenous Peoples day, Kat and Mesha discuss the current struggle of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of South Dakota and their fight to keep their primary water source clean as they protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Later, Kat and Mesha ponder whether going to college and gaining massive debt is truly the only route to achieve the American Dream. Kat finishes the show with a takeover of a rant with Arant where she gives all her feels about the necessity of voting in this upcoming election.

Kat and Mesha break down whether one can be truly “woke” if they are still participating in one or more systems of oppression. Can you be woke on one topic but sleepwalking on other identities? They also discuss upcoming Black historical fiction films and preparing natural hair for winter.
